Nurses, jams and two smoking notebooks
Quinta, 24/nov/2005, foi uma noitezinha duca no Dama de Ferro. As meninas do Voz del Fuego foram fantasiadas de enfermeiras para cuidar da perna enfaixada da Leandra e o show do Labtest foi bem diferente do que eu imaginava - para melhor. Os caras mandaram uma mistura de electro, breaks e jungle alucinado com citações de funk carioca (aprendem rápido esses meninos!), sempre apoiados na pancadaria poderosa e funky do baterista. Para completar a noite, rolou uma mega jam session g0 + Labtest + VDF. Histórico.
Mas incrível mesmo foi descobrir que o Stephen do Labtest não só conhecia o g0 bem antes de vir para o Brasil como também estava tentando entrar em contato comigo há algum tempo. “Hey man, você é o cara que fez o #!/bin/bash? Não acredito, eu adoro essas músicas! Toco direto em NY!” Ok, o que você diz numa situação dessas? É, eu também não sei, só mandei um “yeah, here I am, I’m the man, this is fucking awesome!” Algo me diz que vai rolar mais uma colaboração internacional muito em breve. :-)
Como disse o Retrigger há algum tempo, se você acha que internet só serve ver foto de mulher pelada, você está perdendo a melhor parte. Ele estava se referindo à turnê européia dele, organizada 100% por emails, instant messengers e sites. Em outras palavras: se você cria alguma coisa, pare de olhar para bundas retocadas photoshop e cai dentro. Se o CSS consegue, qualquer um consegue. Thursday, nov/24th/2005 was quite a night at Dama de Ferro. The Voz del Fuego girls played dressed as nurses to take care of Leandra’s wounded leg and Labtest was quite different from what I expected - for the best. They played a powerful mix of electro, breaks and fucked-up jungle with nods to rio funk (they learn fast, apparently), always backed by booming acoustic drums. The night ended with an incredible g0 + Labtest + VDF jam-session. Quite an icing for a delicious cake.
What came as a surprise for me was the fact that Stephen from Labtest not only knew g0 already, but was also trying to contact me for some time. “Hey man, are you the guy that made #!/bin/bash? I can’t believe this, I love it! I play it all the time in NY!” Ok, what do you say in a situation like this? I don’t know either, but it came out like “yeah, here I am, I’m the man, this is fucking awesome!” It seems we’ll see more international co-productions soon! :-)
As my friend Retrigger said some time ago, if you think the internet’s only purpose is downloading porn, you’re missing the best part. He was talking about his european tour, 100% organized through emails, IMs and websites. In other words, if you create something, stop wasting your time looking at photoshopped asses and tities and get on to it. There are indie bands at MySpace outselling bands signed to the majors. And it’s free, so there’s nothing stopping you. Incidentally, take a look at this recommended reading.
